Tom has been a minister in the PC(USA) for 25 years. He has served as the Pastor of Bethesda Presbyterian Church in Statesville, NC, and First Presbyterian Church in Jackson, Alabama. While in Jackson he served as the chaplain of the Jackson Volunteer Fire Department.

In 1988 Tom graduated from Auburn University with a degree in International Business & Spanish. He worked for the Boy Scouts of America from 1990 to 1992 when he enrolled in Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, GA. He graduated from Columbia with a Master of Divinity degree in 1996. While in Seminary, Tom completed a 15-month internship in Mobile, AL, working with the local homeless population as an Urban Intern minister.

Additionally, Tom has received both Interim Ministry training from the Synod of Mid-America/Lincoln Trails and Conflict Resolution training from the Lombard Mennonite Peace Center.

In 1999 Tom married the former Barbara Deloney. They have twin girls, Rachel and Laura born in 2000. In 2003 Barbara took a job with Huntsville Hospital, and the family moved to Madison, Alabama where they still reside. For a time, Tom sold Real Estate in Huntsville until finally becoming the pastor of Copeland Presbyterian Church in 2007. In 2010 Tom completed a second degree from the University of Alabama in Huntsville in Mathematical Sciences. His hobbies include reading and going on mission trips.

Reverend Lewis’ leadership is supported by the dedicated members of the Copeland Church Session. The ministries and missions of the church are managed by a dedicated team of volunteers seeking to serve Christ while serving in the community and beyond.
